Kuzava Cooper, Sr. Obituary

Mr. Kuzava Denell Cooper Sr. (Big Coop) was born November 11, 1952 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky to Percedell and Malinda Cooper.  During his early childhood years, he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where he continued his education in the Indianapolis Public School system.  Kuzava graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1972.  Big Coop was known by many for his kindness and willingness to help others.  He had a love for music, the military and his work as a body man.  Kuzava was seen as the mentor for all the young men in our family. 

Kuzava was a 25-year employee of the Indianapolis Fleet Service, Riverside where he served as the unit leader specializing in body work for the Indianapolis Police Department.  Big Coop was known around the city for his work as an auto body man.  After retiring in 2010, Kuzava started his own towing business called Coop’s Towing.  He continued to work and remained busy until his health failed.  Kuzava served in the Army National Guard of Indiana.  Mr. Cooper returned from the National Guard as a Staff Sergeant on the 20th of November 1994.  He received many awards for his service as a Sharpshooter.

Kuzava was a dedicated husband, parent, loving grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and loyal friend.  Kuzava spent 44 years with his beautiful bride, Mrs. Effie Kyles-Cooper.

Mr. Kuzava Denell Cooper Sr. departed this life on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the age of 65 years old.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Percedell and Malinda Cooper;  two sisters, Mary Scrivener and Clara Toombs-Wallace and brother, Danny Demarco Cooper.

He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Effie Kyles-Cooper; daughters, Nicole Cooper and Natasha Mason; three sons, Kusava D. Cooper, Jr., Demond Cooper (Shalisa), Michael E. Dorsett (Jodilla); eleven grandchildren and one great grand-child.  Sisters, Jacqueline Boyd of Mascotte, FL, Rebra Hatton (Elder Jacob), Acquanetta Garth (Darrell) of Detroit, Michigan, Denise Cooper, Balinda Shanklin (Earnest) and Arnetta Jackson.  A very special aunt, Stella M. Robinson of Augusta, Georgia along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
