Anthony Russ Obituary

Mr. Anthony “Tony” Will Russ, son of Willie Russ Jr. and Lillie Mae Turner-Russ was born on June 7, 1961 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Anthony received his elementary education at Elder W. Diggs, School #42 and graduated from Manual High School. Upon graduating, Anthony attended Vincennes University.

Anthony accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at the Eastern Star Baptist Church.

Anthony was an avid reader, writer, poet and self-taught musician. His ability to read and write music afforded him the opportunity to conduct and write a play for Black History Month during his freshman year at Vincennes University.

Anthony loved going to thrift stores to buy his comic books, tapes, dvds and anything to enrich his love of reading and writing music.

Mr. Anthony “Tony” Will Russ departed this life on January 27, 2019 at the age of 57 years and 7 months. His parents, Willie Russ Jr. and Lillie Turner-Russ; his loving grandfather, Mr. Willie Russ Sr. (who nicknamed him “Tony the Tiger) and brothers, Harold L. Swanson and Gary S. Russ all preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his loving memory: sister, Sheryl D. Watson of Manteca, California; his devoted and caring aunt, Nancy J. Price; uncle, Charles J. Russ; aunt, Eunice Turner, all of Indianapolis, Indiana; nephews, Jabari S. (Marie) Watson of Manteca, California; Damon C. Watson of Springfield, Oregon; niece, Dawn L. Watson of Manteca, California along with a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
